Here at Artist Surfaces, we believe in doing things right first time. In order to do this, we offer the best quality products and service to our customers.
One of the ways we do this is through our research and development. We are always pushing the envelope in technological and material possibilities. Reducing processes and fabrication to its essential core elements.
We only use FSC certified plywood and 80% recycled aluminium. We have set ourselves on a carbon reduction path by investing in a WT5 wood burner that keeps our workshop warm in the winter through burning our waste wood.
Our newly installed solar panels provide much of our electricity reducing our reliance on the national grid. This in turn helps to reduce the impact of today’s rising energy costs that would otherwise be passed onto our customers. It is a principle of ours to run the company as sustainably and ethically as possible which has a positive impact upon the world.
All current fabrication processes are in house to maintain quality control. This includes our welding facilities such as tig and laser welding.
Incorporating welding into our surfaces is arguably the single most significant advancement in painting panel fabrication since the advent of plywood in the late 19th century. This advancement that we have pioneered is essential for all of our surfaces to be warp free. Warp free was a concept that we believed was possible and is particularly evident in our Museum Grade Wooden Painting Panels and STUDIO Wooden Painting Panels. As far as we are aware, we are the world’s only warp free painting panel fabricator.
With our incorporated aluminium, we can fabricate panels up to almost any dimension providing they can be logistically transported. To date, our largest painting panel was 3.6m x 6.1m which was hung at the Royal Academy in 2018. This was an exceptionally proud moment for us to have work in one of the oldest and most respected museums and art institutions in the world.
As of today, we are still hard at work developing new products, some of which are set to launch in 2025.
We are excited to be an official member of Made in Britain. Made in Britain is an internationally-recognised registered trademark which promotes and acknowledges the very best of British manufacturing.
We do not believe in perfection; we believe in the perfect example of something i.e. the best something can possibly be… Our endeavour is to create the ‘paragon’ of surfaces. This is our promise.
Kindest regards,
The Artist Surfaces Team.
