Our Wooden Painting Panels have a poplar plywood surface with a birch plywood wood subframe which is sustainably sourced, PEFC and FSC certified.
 
Poplar Plywood is approximately 40% lighter than birch plywood and provides a smooth white ivory plug free surface with a uniform tight grain making it ideal for painting.
 
Through extensive research and development, we have designed our own engineered aluminium extrusion. This extrusion is discretely incorporated into the reverse of each constructed panel. The aluminium extrusion makes the Wooden Painting Panels impervious to twisting or warping.
 
The new aluminium extrusion incorporates a ‘u’ shaped security hanging bar that features on all hanging orientations. This is a smart and simple method that allows artists to hang with confidence and security. 
 
The strength of the aluminium extrusion negates the incorporation of several crossbars therefore greatly reducing the overall weight of each panel without compromising on stability or strength. 
 
Artist Surfaces is the only painting panel fabricator in the world to ustilise Laser welding in its fabrication process. Laser welding allows us to fuse our extruded aluminium subframes without igniting and burning the attached wood.
 
This new form of welding simplifies fabrication to the quintessential elements and in our estimation offers the most essential and paragon solution for warp free painting panels in the world.

We have a hydraulic cold press that offers consistent and equal pressure during the gluing process. We leave panels in the press for 24 hours to cure to ensure they have optimum adhesion.
 
Our Workshop facilities have a range of industrial saws that provide precision and accuracy.
 
Our Wooden Painting Panels are particularly suited for small, medium and large-scale paintings.
 
We offer priming services such as Golden GAC 100 which prevents SID (Support Induced Discolouration), ECONOMY Gesso and Gesso priming. We can also offer Black Gesso priming on request. Please email info@artistsurfaces.co.uk for a quote.
