Linen or Canvas
We offer a choice of two materials. Belgium Fine Linen and 10 oz Cotton Duck Canvas to be stretched over our Wooden Panels.
 
Material is stretched around the back of the panel and stapled on the reverse of the subframe. We employ the method of hospital corners to fold the material. Please inform us by filling in the information box whether the panel(s) will be portrait or landscape.
 
Gluing
We glue the material to our panels as standard using a D4 PVA Solution that is waterproof and will be adhered permanently.
 
The D4 PVA will never react to moisture like rabbit skin glue. *Rabbit skin glue reacts by absorbing moisture and swelling as humidity increases. When the humidity decreases, the glue shrinks and causes the material to lose tension and go slack.
 
The D4 PVA glue sizes the material to the wood making the plywood surfaces more resilient and stronger, whilst also creating a homogenous material tension. The material will never require re-stretching, essentially producing a problem free solution that cannot be replicated through stretchers or strainers.  
 
Gesso Priming
We offer the service of gesso priming the material on all sides with Golden Acrylic Gesso. We block in the material three times before sanding the front surface. This creates a smoother surface with a perfect tooth for painting that provides the beauty of the material grain and surface feedback. We add a subsequent 5-8 layers of diluted gesso to create a beautiful absorbent surface that is pure white. 
 
Trimming
The material is trimmed to the inside of the wooden subframe after gluing and gesso priming which produces a definitive clean line. It is imperative to us that the back of our panels be as beautiful and as important as the front and sides.
